10 of the Best TV Shows Cancelled We Miss

Just recently it was announced that the Lifetime TV Series Witches of East End was being cancelled. This shocked the fans. No one saw this coming. A lot of petitions are being signed to try and bring the show back. It only aired for two seasons and people expected to see more. I was also a fan of Witches of East End and was looking forward to the next season. I started thinking about all of the other TV series that I loved and had been canceled.

These are 10 of the best TV shows cancelled we miss

10. Star Trek

Star Trek was a TV Series that aired on NBC from Sept. 8, 1966 and then it ended on June 3rd, 1969. Believe it or not, despite the popularity of Star Trek the ratings were actually low and therefore, NBC had to cancel it after just having three seasons of it and a total of 79 episodes. The show might not have been extremely popular but it did have a big influence with a lot of the culture and during the 70’s it became a classic cult and made broadcast syndication. Eventually, the show was spawned into a great franchise and it’s now one of the most known and popular TV shows of science fiction ever.

9. Firefly

Firefly was a TV Series aired on Fox network. According to the Nielsen ratings, Firefly was marked at 98 and it had around 4.7 million viewers that watched it per episode. After 11 episodes were aired then the show was cancelled. The show might have been short but did receive a lot of strong sales and in 2003 won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series.

8. Deadwood

Deadwood was aired on HBO and was a great American western TV series. It only had three seasons and the show as set in Deadwood South Dakota back in the 1870’s. A lot of fans felt that it was just cancelled way too soon. It received 8 Emmy Awards and even one Golden Globe award. It also received a total of 28 nominations. They had plans to try and conclude Deadwood and make a couple of TV movies from it but those plans never happened.

7. Arrested Development

Here is another TV series that I loved and hated when it was cancelled. This was aired on Fox and they had a total of four seasons. The last season was released on Netflix. It aired from Nov. 2nd, 2003 to February 10, 2006. The IGN also called it one of the funnies shows of all time. The TV series received six Primetime Emmy awards plus it also received 1 Golden Globe Award.

6. Dallas

Everyone thought Dallas would surely be coming back for a fourth season, right? Sadly, TNT cancelled the American television drama series, Dallas. It was aired on June 3th, 2012 to September 22, 2014. It was suppose to be a revival from the prime time TV soap opera series that had the exact same name which was aired from 1978 to 1991 on CBS. Some of the original stars were brought back. A lot of fans will be disappointed when they realize Dallas isn’t coming back for another season.

5. Dead like Me

Dead like Me was a Showtime TV series that had only two season and was aired during the years 2003-2004. The series was all about Georgia Lass who was a young dropout in Seattle college. 4. Freaks and Geeks

NBC aired Freaks and Geeks back in 2002 and was cancelled after 12 episodes. Fans worked hard and NBC was persuaded by them to do three more. The reason why it was cancelled was because despite how many fans it had, Freaks and Geeks was only ranked number 93 and due to the low rankings, they decided to cancel the show. Back in 2007 the TV show appeared on Time Magazine and was placed at number 3 for one of the greatest shows of all time.

3. United States of Tara

Here was another TV show that many missed when it stopped airing. It was aired on Showtime between 2009-2011. Back in 2009, Collette did win the Primetime Emmy Award then she won the 2010 Best Actress Golden Globe Award. The TV series had a total of 3 seasons. It’s all about a woman who is struggling to find the perfect balance and she has a hard time doing so with her dissociative identity disorder plus with raising a family that’s dysfunctional.

2. Witches of East End

I have to give this at least a number 2 with the best TV shows cancelled that we miss. I feel that the tv show is not complete and should have not been cancelled to where it stands. It’s a lifetime TV series that was premiered on October 6th, 2013. On October 5th, 2014 the series finale was aired. Many fans thought for sure Witches of East End would be coming back for another season. However, it was cancelled due to the low ratings on the show.

1. Golden Girls

Golden Girls was one of the most popular NBC TV series ever. It originally aired on September 14th 1985 and then the last episode was on May 9th, 1992. Golden Girls was cancelled in 1992 because the one who played Dorothy, Beatrice Arthur left the show. The show greatly revolved around Dorothy and because she left the TV series was cancelled. Bea also died on April 25th, 2009 from cancer at the age of 86 years old.
