Top 10 Most Anticipated Games of 2012 – 2013

As another summer draws to a close we can begin to look forward to a winter of epic video gaming. For those of us that already have consoles we can look forward to the spectacular gaming releases that are expected in the latter part of 2012 and into 2013; for anyone that is getting their hands on an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 for Christmas, there is a need to know what games should be taking over their lives. Here are the top 10 most anticipated games of 2012- 2013 – you will want to add these to your wish list.

10) Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

If you are a fan of the Transformers movies, or like me, a lover of the 80s cartoon, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will be an eagerly awaited release. However, this is not your usual affair of Autobots vs. Decepticons, this time there is a new element of fearsome robot added to the mix – Dinobots! That’s right, Dinosaur robots – mean ones too! First person shooter + Transformers = gamers dream.

9) Max Payne 3

Most gamers will already be very familiar with the DEA agent Max Payne; a renegade hell-bent on ridding the streets of bad guys. This third instalment of the game brings us a Max that is angrier than ever before and equipped with a whole new arsenal including everything from hand-guns to automatics. Max Payne 3 is all about good old-fashioned shoot ‘em up fun and is as great in single-player as it is in multi-player.

8) Bioshock Infinite

When the original Bioshock game was released in 2007, it was a huge success, loved by both fans and critics alike. The latest instalment of the survival-horror FPS game, aims to give us more of the same when it is released in February 2013. If it is anything like the first two games, we are all in for a very big treat.

7) Gears of War: Judgement

Following on from the hugely successful “Gears of War” triliogy, Judgement is the next storyline in the military sci-fi epic, once again putting us back in charge of the Delta Squad. This game is not expected until spring next year but if the trailers are anything to go by, we’re in for something very spectacular.

6) Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Dawnguard

Action role-playing game Skyrim was one of the outstanding successes in 2011 and this latest instalment is eagerly awaited by the game’s fans. The open world gameplay of Skyrim is one of its huge advantages and it will be once again, the job of the player to defeat Alduin, a dragon that is intent on destroying the world.

5) Assassin’s Creed III

Assassin’s Creed has been one of the biggest selling series’ in the last few years and the third instalment takes the game to a whole new level. There is a brand-new setting and an entirely updated engine for fans to get their teeth into, as well as numerous new missions to complete. This is the closest to a movie as gaming can get.

4) Grand Theft Auto V

We all know what we are getting when it comes to Grand Theft Auto on the Xbox 360 and PS3: booze, women, carjacking and violence – therefore we do not need to know a lot about the newest addition to the series to know that it is going to be good. The Last “GTA” instalment sold over 15 million copies, and judging by the latest trailer, we should expect GTA V to post similar figures.

3) Tomb Raider

Lara Croft is coming back. It’s been a long time since we have seen everyone’s favourite female computer game character but in 2013 she is making her long-awaited return. The fifth title in the Tomb Raider franchise once again follows Lara, this time on her ascent from frightened little girl into tough survivor and has no correlation to the story lines of previous games. This is Tomb Raider for the new generation of gamers.

2) Halo 4

Two games are set to dominate the gaming sales charts this coming Christmas and this is one of them. Halo, as a gaming series, needs little introduction and has been one of Microsoft’s biggest hits. Indications suggest that Halo 4 is going to be even better than its predecessor Halo 3, which still remains one of the greatest FPS games of all time.

1) Call of Duty: Black Ops II

Anything with the name “Call of Duty” attached to it is a guaranteed seller. The game has dominated the sales charts for years and this latest instalment of “Black Ops” will be no different. Black Ops is set partly in the past and partly in the year 2025, giving gamers something different from the previous games, including new weapons and vehicles. Definitely one for the Christmas list when it is released later this year.
