Top 10 Hottest Places in the World

The summer of 2012 is almost at the door and about to enter. Personally, I really dislike the summer season and prefer winter on this season. There are several reasons for this which I don’t think should be discussed here as these vary from person to person. Anyways, in my part of the world summer has already struck the cities and I can see graffiti on numerous places which states that “Cold beverages on very cheap rates”, “drink our cold drinks and get rid of the hotness”. The business of cold drinks is in full swing nowadays. Thank God! My place is not included in the top ten list of the hottest places. Let us see those places which bear the brunt of the summer season in the ugliest manner.

 

 

10.Wadi Halfa

It is located in Northern Sudan and has a population of around 15,725. This city holds historic importance as it was a communications post for Allied forces in Africa. The extreme temperature in Wadi Halfa touches 127°F.

 

 

9.Agha jari

This city is situated in the province of Khuzestan in Iran. The population of this place averages 13,152. If worst comes to worst, the temperature here can touch 128°F. By the way, there is already much heat in the country of Iran radiating directly from the U.S sanctions.

 

 

8.Ahwaz

It is also located in the Khuzestan province and the Karun River passes by this city. According to calculations, it is 20 metres above sea level and the population here is around 1,425,891. The extreme temperature in this city can reach up to 128.3°F.

 

 

7.Tirat Tavi

It is located in Beit She’an Valley which is ten kilometres south of Beit She’an, Israel. The temperature of this region can go as high as 129°F. It is located 220 meters below the sea level. Let us talk a bit about history of this place. In the year 1942, the highest in whole of the continent of Asia was recorded in this very place which was around 129°F.

 

 

6. Araouane

This is not a city rather it is a small village in the Malian Sahara in the country of Mali. I will tell you about the temperature of this place in reference to a short incident of past. In 1828, René Caillié, a French explorer, was on his way to Morocco when he happened to pass through this village. Coincidently, it was the month of May and at that time the temperature recorded was over 42°C. The highest temperature recorded in this place is 130°F.

 

 

5. Timbouctou

It is also a town in Mali which is located at a distance of 15 km north of the Niger River. Though, this town had a great past as several tribes captured it and assigned this place a special status administratively but nowadays the only major source of income and attraction of Timbouctou is tourism. The highest temperature recorded is around 130.1°F.

It is more of a desert town located in Tunisia and is also one of the oldest Oasis in North Africa and Tunisia. One of the most famous tourism spot in Tunisia, the Saharan Gate, is also situated in this region. The highest temperature recorded in this town is 131°F.

 

 

3. Ghudamis

It is an oasis town located in south-western Libya. The population figure for this place is around 10,000 comprising mainly of Berber, an ethnic group of North Africa. Ghudamis was ruled first by Romans and then also by the Muslim Arabs. The highest temperature recorded is 131°F.

 

 

2. Greenland Ranch, Death Valley

As with the name, this place is symptomatic of the driest and hottest weather in the region of North America. The hottest air temperature of 134°F was recorded in this valet which is the highest temperature ever in the western hemisphere. Aside from this, this valley has also got reserves of gold and silver which was acknowledged in 1850’s.

 

 

1.Al’Aziziyah

Located in north-western Libya, it is the world’s hottest place. It is the capital of the Jaffara district 42 kilometers southwest of Tripoli. In the year 1922, a temperature of 136°F was recorded here which is like ‘Whew! I need a gallon of water to drink’. However, the hottest place status is still debatable as some term Death Valley to be the hottest place on the world.
