Top 10 Christmas Movies This Year

Movies have always been a very important part of our lives. We get inspired from movies, we learn important life lessons, we watch movies to pass time and feed ourselves with joy, satisfaction and content. Christmas is a joyous time for all. And every year, many movies are released around in the month of December to give the audience something to enjoy during the holidays. So like every year, 2012 also sees a large number of movies coming its way in the month of December.

1) Quartet

The specialty of this December 28th release movie, this year is that it’s directed by Dustin Hoffman himself. Its British comedy drama film and it stars Maggie Smith, Billy Connolly, Tom Courtenay, and Pauline Collins, who all put up a show every year. They play retired opera singers.
2) Promised Land

Set for its December 29th release in 2012, Promised Land is a drama film starring Matt Damon. The film revolves around the life of Steve Butler, a corporate salesperson and his partner Sue Thompson, paled by Frances McDormand.
3) This Is 40

Picking up from the movie “Knocked Up” the film starts with Debbie and Pete, who still continue to fight after marriage. The movie stars Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann Along With Jason Segel, Megan Fox and Tim Bagley and Charlyne Yi.
4) Les Misérables

Another movie which the audience is very eagerly waiting for is Les Misérables. It’s a British musical drama film starring some of the greatest stars of this age which include, Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfield, Samantha Barks, Sacha Baron Cohen and Aaron Tveit. The film is set in the mod 1800’s and Jackman plays an imprisoned Frenchman who had stolen bread. He broke his parole and fled with the policeman (Crowe) after him. The movie was released on 7th December, 2012.
5) Django Unchained

What’s a year without a Tarantino release? Django unchained had been creating a lot of news ever since it was announced and its finally coming to theatres on Christmas day this year. Django is played by Jamie Foxx who is a slave separated from his family and forced to work in the Deep South. Christoph Waltz plays the good doctor who frees him from the slaves and the adventures begin from there on.
6) Parental Guidance

This is a comedy movie which is set for release on December 25th. This Christmas celebration movie is a grand release for all comedy lovers and it stars Marisa Tomei, Billy Crystal, Bailee Madison, Joshua Rush, Bette Midler and Tom Evertte Scott. Crystal plays the role of Artie who has to take care of his 3 grandchildren when his daughter leaves for work. The fun begins when he has issues adapting to the styles of 21st century parenting which clashes with his old school style.
7) The Guilt Trip

Comedy lovers would definitely not want to miss this December 19th release this year. The film stars Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogen. Rogen plays an inventor who is out to sell a new product and is going on a cross country trip. He invites his mother to join him and to secretly reunite her with and ex and that’s when all the fun begins.
8) The Impossible

Set for its release on December 21st, 2012, this English based Spanish disaster film has already got critical acclamation worldwide. It will have its world premiere release in the Toronto film Festival in December this year. It stars Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor and Tom Holland. The film is based on the life of a family of a couple and their 3 children who face disaster in the year 2004 when their holidays turn into horror due to the tsunami.

 

9) The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

All science fiction lovers can see this as their movie of the year. The hobbit- an unexpected journey is a fantasy movie and this is the first part of the 3 planed installations. The movie is set 60 years before the “lord of rings” theme set out. The movie is directed by Peter Jackson and it stars martin freeman and Bilbo Baggins. He is a young hobbit who sets out on a journey to reclaim a treasure that was stolen from them. He has 13 dwarves and the wizard Gandalf to help in on his path. The story unwraps itself, revealing the roots form wear the storyline of Lord of the Rings came into being, its releasing n December 14th, 2012.
10) Playing For Keeps

This is a romantic comedy movie starring Gerard Butler. Released on 7th December 2012, it’s already doing very well in the box office. George is an ex athlete who is all set to coach his son’s soccer team. He has a past, like us all, but the twist in the story comes when he find out that he has become a hot favorite among all the hot soccer moms. The film also stars Uma Thurman, Jessica Biel, Catherine Zeta Jones, and And Judy Greer.
